They do make a vegetarian broth but it isn't on the menu. I tried it. Very tasty and no pork! Just remember to let the waiter know and they will accommodate you.
all noodles are made using peanut oil
No, just go and get in line
No
I don't think so
Short answer is no.
Noodles and a good broth are my favourite pairing. My partner and I ordered two small bowls with medium wide noodles and didn't have to add anything spice or sauce-wise. It was already perfect and we thought the portion was very generous. The noodles were perfectly chewy and the lean meat was tender. Spicy cucumber was a great and refreshing side as well as the soy milk!
Best noodles in Toronto! The basic beef noodle soup is so flavourful and the noodles so springy and delicious. Would recommend to anyone who eats
First time at this small cozy place. It was super busy...but worth the short wait. The chef makes the noodles by hand, great to watch and you know it is fresh! Broth was awesome. Service prompt. Will be back.
A small noodle shop that serves Lanzhou style hand pulled noodles. Portions are decent and service is quite fast if you are seated. It's still popular since opening 4 months ago, so there is usually a small line. The broth is nice, homey and uncomplicated. The meat is tender. The noodles are nice and chewy. You can choose the width of the noodles and add additional toppings for a small charge. The space is pretty clean but a bit cramped but that's standard in Toronto. Overall, a good Chinese noodle shop but not the best with all the different Lanzhou noodle shops around.
Really small space. But the food makes up for it . Very flavorful soup base! Well priced tucked away near Eaton center. Lots of selection of hand pulled noodles, With side dishes to go as well. High recommended but the wait is a bit during lunch time.
It was ok. Make sure to call directly to the store rather than using any delivery/take out app to get a better price!
So good! Fresh broth, chewy hand pulled noodles, delicious side dishes. I always try to stop by when I’m in the area.
One of the better hand pulled noodle spots in the city. The food is good, portions generous, and price affordable
Average food. The Shanghai veggy we ordered is under cooked. The chicken side dish was dry/over cooked so it's not tender. Compared with other ramen stores, it's average and not outstanding.
Amazing noodles! Very small joint and it's a little rushed. The servers arent very helpful and they dont really care about anything. The place is not the cleanest but the noodles are good so we keep coming back.
SO TASTY!!! One of the best—if not THE best spot in the city for authentic Chinese noodles (la mein)! The broth is so light and flavourful and you can taste the freshness in radish and beef slices. I am from China and these noodle bowls always taste like home to me.
Being a vegetarian i am always skeptical of noodle joints... but this place not only had good options but they tasted great as well. Simple clean flavours, quick and friendly service. I will definitely recommend the place to anyone who wants to try good chinese noodles..
Best hand-pulled noodle I have ever tried.
The noodles are delicious and chewy. I got the recommended beef stew and it was tasty (especially with the extra vinegar and spicy oil offered on the side). However, someone next to me got a spicy pork dish that smelled so good it was distracting, and I'll have to go back to try that.Sit at the counter if you can and you'll get a great view of the master making the noodles while you eat!
It's a solid local noodle place. Their service is quick and efficient. Definitely more of a no-fuss place with some vegetarian options as well! Good for people who want to dine alone or come with a friend. It's not really good for groups - the restaurant is pretty small.
Wow, this restaurant has the super authentic Chinese noodles. We tried three different noodles with or without soup. All are fantastic.Although the place is a little bit tiny, it is very clean. The food is ready pretty fast and the staff is very friendly. They have the chef right behind the counter to prepare the noodles. Very unique experience.
I came here on a Thursday night with a friend, and we arrived a bit past 9PM. The restaurant was full except for two tables, and I snagged one of them while waiting for my friend to arrive. Once he did, we ordered, and I got the large lanzhou beef noodle soup with wide noodles. We didn't have to wait too long for the noodles, and once they came, wow it was a really big bowl! There were a ton of noodles, very delicious noodles. The noodles were really chewy and long, and I was really impressed. The spicy sauce on top was also very savory and tasty. The daikon was a bit too hard for my liking, and there wasn't a lot of beef. The noodles were also a bit too long and difficult to eat, but I do know that's one of the signs of a good noodle maker. For the amount of food, $12 (CAD) post-tax was very reasonable. Service wasn't very existent, but it wasn't too bad. Ambiance was a bit loud, but I could comfortably hear the conversation we were having. Definitely recommend!
A truly unique and rare culinary experience. It's really hard to find good traditional Chinese noodles and this place serves some of the finest I've ever had. The noodles are expertly made to your specification of thickness, with a savory spicy broth and delicious tender cuts of beef. The final product is something that will linger in your mind long after your visit. Highly recommend!
If I live in Toronto, I would be here all day eating. Amazing food, and you can really taste the difference on the noodles. We went here just before 1130 and beat the lunch hour rush and was able to get seats. After that, there was a lineup. There is a pressure to eat a little faster, since it's not the most spacious place, but it's understandable. Go early or perhaps really late if you want to eat in your own pace. Service went from easy going to, eat fast and go type attitude.
This is a Chinese hand pulled noodles place located across from the atrium at bay. The restaurant is quite small but typical of Toronto. The bowls of noodles are typical of Chinese hand pulled noodles and quite flavorful. I ordered the dry noodles which had meat and vegetables in it, while my dad ordered the one with the soup base. Overall, I really enjoyed the noodles. The portions were extremely large and I could barely finish it. For three people and an appetizer it cost $55 with tax and tip. I would recommend this place if you are craving Chinese had pulled noodles around the Eaton centre area.
The noodles are good but there are far better places in the city. I knocked 2 stars off because they need to do a better job communicating that everything is cooked in peanut oil. Came here with a friend who is allergic - I was not impressed with how the staff handled this.
I’m quite disappointed with what I had. I ordered classic hand pulled noodle, and selected thick noodle type, I was told this was the regular thickness... and it was way thicker than what I have had in other places and in China. And because of this, the noodles were dry and not seasoned well in the broth. The broth itself was a quite salty and lack of flavor for me, and I had to drink a lot of water afterwards.Me and my friend also ordered a mixed salad, which was dry and with little flavor. :/Despite barely satisfying food, the service was quite good!
Delicious noodle soup with a variety of noodles sizes and sides. I would go here every day if I could!
Good place for a quick lunch! The noodles are delicious and are served very quickly. The food is reasonably priced and quite delicious. The restaurant itself is small and they certainly try their best to accomodate as many customers as possible making it quite a tight space but the staff are extremely attentive and very courteous. The highlight is watching the chef prepare/pull the noodles in front of you at lightning speed :)
My preferred choice of hand pulled noodles in the city. Great, efficient service every time. One time, after an evening movie, I visited within 10 minutes of closing (I had not realized they were closing so soon at the time). They were happy to let me order and eat in still, and served me my order very quickly. Thank you!
My partner and I really enjoyed the food here. The braised beef broth was flavorful and had a nice amount of heat. Noodles were great. The portions generous. Overall I was satisfied. The only major downside is the limited amount of seats inside.
Best hand pulled noodle around, would recommend not getting their side dishes because they were pretty bad and were added on after their grand opening, probably not their specialty at all.
Noodles thick, medium or thin. No spice, little bit of spice, in so many types of soup. So many possibilities! This became the metre stick with which I unintentionally end up measuring other places against. Love those noodles!
Portion is great, side dishes are yummy. Just wish to have more greens/vegetables in the noodles.
Small place but they had quick same efficient service, definitely looked like they had worked out a system to get food to you as fast as possible; they wrote my order while I waited then put it through the moment I had a seat. I watched my noodles being made and probably had my bowl of delicious hot, soupy noodles in under 5 minutes.
The food here is great! I got the beef noodles (super thin, which I heard soaks up the flavour). Do come here if you'd like hand-pulled noodles! Can't speak to the authenticity of it, but the taste of the noodles, soup and beef were delicious! Very crowded, and not a lot of space to move around. Don't come with heavy coats or bags either. No space to store them.
Mixed noodles are great! Portions are generous and nothing beats the soup noodles on a winter day
Really like this place. The hand-pulled noodle is delicious and the price is fair. Enjoying coming here especially during winter time.
I have mix feeling about this place. I did enjoy the first few bites but after a while the taste become one note. The noodle was excellent- chewy and soft. The soup was a little too salty for me. The mixed salad is a must order!! I really really like it. This is a teeny tiny place. I won’t recommend a big group. If you have a lot of stuff with you like bags, purse, etc. There is really no place to put it. The tables are really closed to each other.
Reasonable pricing, bit crowded seating. Kitchen is pretty close to seating area so conversations will be interrupted by the loud banging of the noodles on the table. The culinary experience was fantastic, but was offput by the service. I appreciated how fast the serving time was, but we were being rushed through the whole experience from ordering to paying up.
Fortunately I could get a seat right away when I came. Few people had to wait especially during lunch time. Tried the beef (thin) noodle soup with cucumber salad. They were very good. The place was also reviewed in CBC Food Guide - Suresh Doss.
Great little place with very fast service. Delicious noodles in your chosen width and a simple broth. Everything I wanted on a cool day in early fall. I wouldn’t change a thing!
Always a treat to come here for a bowl of noodles. Fresh, flavourful, the perfect comfort food. You can't go wrong with them. Well worth a try, and you crave for it from time to time.
Hand-pulled noodles are an art form and you can see them being made for yourself at GB. The texture of the noodles are perfect and the broth is very tasty. I was very happy with the quality especially for such a great price considering it being downtown. Warning to jumpy customers, the smacking of the noodles is quite loud so if you're not okay with loud noises I suggest getting this to go.
• swipe to see final product •@gbhandpulled you can watch your noodles (thick or thin) get prepared in front of you! The noodle soups taste delicious and are very flavourful. You get a great portion size for the price, and all the ingredients taste fresh, would definitely recommend!📸 Special Beef Lanzhou Noodle 📸 Dry Noodles with pork, tomato, egg (comes with soup) Price: 💰For more restaurant reviews and food pictures in the GTA, check out @MenuPictionary on Instagram!
Solid noodles at very fair prices. Minced pork is the best
I picked up a order today for Uber eats on my bicycle. The woman at the door was very friendly. As I picked up my order, two men behind me where going on and on how this was this their favourite place to order takeout. I delivered my order ( across town) and the customer was so happy I had arrived as this was his favourite noodle place.( He also mentioned that he orders the same dish every week) I asked him what to order and he said to get the beef special noodles as this is only available on the weekends. I rode back 5km just to give it a try and I’m so glad I did.I ate standing up outside their restaurant and yummm the noodles were so delicious! The chef was hand pulling the noodles in the window as he looked out and gave me a wave. He could tell I was enjoying the noodles he prepared. Thank you Chef! I will be back!
Delicious food! A little cramped seating and can be very busy around you, but still a must visit place. Will definitely go back.
Hidden spot in downtown dundas!! It's a delicious spot for some Chinese style housemade noodles. My new favorite place for my cravings
Very good hand pulled noodles with tender slices on beef. Only docking 1 star because of the tight quarters and constant bumping of elbows with other patrons. Not exactly a great dining experience but the food itself is excellent.
I've been dying to visit this noodle shop, but don't visit Toronto as often as I used to. I was not disappointed! Had the special beef soup with chili oil and our custom sized noodles made to order, as well as the dry pork noodle bowl with soup on the side. Oh my gosh! Both are a must try!
Amazing portions and flavor. Quickly for seated and the service was fast. Place is overcrowded and tables are cramped together. I still prefer this over long wait to be seated. Broth was amazing and everything tastes fresh.
delicious hand-pulled noodles. equally delicious side dishes. left feeling full and can’t wait to go back. would recommend to anyone.
Noodles are chewy mouth fulls of goodness. They only make one clear broth, so its a super specialized store, but that just goes to say exactly how yummy it is.
Found this place on Yelp and wanted to try it b/c of the great reviews. I'm glad I did. It's very small, so make sure you have enough time at lunch. There was a bit of a lineup when my colleague and I went, but we had a bit of flexibility with our time. It was really cool getting to see the noodles being made in front of your eyes. They make it look so easy! The menu is quite small. But they keep it simple so they can pump out the food I'm sure. I had the noodle soup with beef. I like that you can pic the noodle size. I was a little surprised to see a tomato sauce on the menu. It felt more Italian than Asian to me, so I was a bit skeptical. Someone at the next table got it though and it looked/smelled really good so I am going to try that next time!
